“As a Detroit native, I believe in giving back to the community. When I give my time and energy to others, I feel better about myself and my city. I have had some of my most memorable, rewarding, and character-building experiences come from various volunteer opportunities.
I am a proud product of Detroit Public Schools and a graduate of Henry Ford High School. I excelled academically and was known to be very independent during my teen-aged years. My independence led me to travel to Norfolk, Virginia, where I attended and obtained my Bachelors of Arts degree from Norfolk State University. I also hold a Masters of Arts in Education degree from University of Phoenix.
Presently as a Neighborhood Exchange Associate, I provide support and assistance with workshops and trainings to diverse neighborhood groups across Detroit. Additionally, I am a High School English teacher with Detroit Public Schools. Imparting knowledge and challenging students to grow into their full potential are my passions as an educator.
I am a single mom of two teen-aged sons. Seth is headed to Michigan State in the fall as a freshman and Caleb is a Senior at Cass Technical High School.”
